[2019 Buick Regal Sportback new Gen II GM module] I just got the SmartStopStart module last Friday, and installed it that night. They shipped it quickly by Priority Mail, and even included a 10mm wrench for the battery clamp! It seemed to crank a little longer the first time after the 8 hour wait period, but then started right up every time after that. [2018 GMC Terrain] I was skeptical about this thing but I was sick and tired of this horrid "feature" on my new car. I put up with it because at the time it didn't bother me much. Then I installed a Kenwood two-way radio into my car. To my dismay every time I left off the break... here comes Auto-Stop! The voltage in my cars fuse panel drops for a moment and my two-way radio restarts!

I was willing to take a chance, the install was easy and it worked right away. The wire harness was exactly where you said it was an exactly as described, I installed it faster than I was able to open the packaging lol! Seriously, thank you.

[2017 Cadillac XT5]   'Hi Steve, just wanted to give you some feedback on your product to eliminate the startstop feature on our 2017 Cadillac XT5. This is exactly what this car needed! When we first purchased this car in Feb of 2017 we took a test drive and everything seemed fine to us at the time. When my wife drove the car home that day, the engine shut off after getting off the freeway. What the heck is going on now?

I called and talked to our salesman and discovered (after his apology) that it was simply the startstop feature going into effect. He had "forgotten" to explain this feature! Well, I went to the Service Manager and he , in turn, went up the chain to ask if a setting could be changed to disable the feature and to my dismay the answer was NO, and "NO WAY". I was NOT a happy customer.

In my opinion, the car does not drive like I would expect a Cadillac to drive with this feature enabled. I understand that GM is trying to satisfy some government regulation somewhere and needs to show that they are doing their part in developing technology that helps to save gas but this feature is downright annoying. I would not have bought the car if I had been aware of this. Shame on ME for not doing better research on the features of the new XT5 prior to purchase!

Thanks for developing a product that solves this problem! The hardest part  of the install was separating the 2 plugs that allow your product to plug in. It took about 5 minutes to install.

This past spring, on a few occasions, my wife reported the device seemed to not work properly. I contacted Steve, who responded the very same day with some things to try. We ran the car a few more weeks, and it finally happened to me.

I contacted Steve, and he send me a replacement module via next day mail, free of charge, along with a pre-paid return mailer for my old one. Not sure if the original device was faulty, but the new device has worked flawlessly so far.

Making a great device like this is one thing, but backing it with a "no questions asked" support like I experienced is money well spent. I do not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who wants rid of the annoying auto stop feature in their vehicle. Thanks again!'

['17 Buick LaCrosse] 'New convert here. Until this morning with the module installed I didn't know how much 'managing' stop/start was sapping the enjoyment of the vehicle. Not having to think about whether I have to shift into manual approaching a light is alone worth the cost of admission.
Other thoughts...
While they did a good job in how the stop/start operates, it's not a technology I really want to be bothered with anymore. If I had to continue my mostly city commute and the gas prices continued to rise, then perhaps I could see wanting it for actual cost savings (and other tree-hugger related reasons). With my commute changing to mostly highway next week, I'm much less concern. Today, I took my 2018 JL into a local, licensed, New York State DMV Vehicle Inspection Shop/Center, for it's yearly vehicle inspection.
Required is that the shop attach a computer to the vehicle that communicates with NYS DMV.
The computer attaches, using a cable that plugs into your vehicle's OBDll port.

Long story short, even though the SmartStopStart was attached at the gateway that is inline with the OBDll port, the shop's computer had no issues communicating with my JL, via the OBDll port.
I should add.... I reached out to Steve @SmartStopStart.com prior to taking my JL in for the vehicle inspection.

I was quite confident that there would be no issue with communication between my JL, with the SmartStopStart connected and the shops computer.... but I wanted Steve, to concur with my belief.
Steve was quick to reply to my query. As always, Steve was more then willing and quite enthusiastic, in regard to answering questions and concerns in regard to his terrific product offering.

About a month ago, we purchased a new 2019 Cadillac XT5. We ordered and received the module the same week that we took possession of our new vehicle.
It was extremely easy to install as it came with very good instructions and photos showing exactly how to install it. It took us only about 10 minutes to install it.
It works just as described. We are no longer bothered or annoyed by that start / stop system.
All we can say is you have developed a product that works flawlessly - is easy to install- and very reasonably priced.

Reminds me of the early days of Corvettes with skip shift manual tranny-they designed the connector/wire location to be over-ridden. 'I purchased a "new" leftover 2017 Chevy Cruze in November 2018. It wasn't a week until my wife asked if the auto-stop feature could be turned off. Everyone said "no", and then I came across SmartStop while searching the web.

My wife drives 120 miles a day to and from work. The SmartStop device was installed with less than 1K miles on the odometer, and it now has over 3.5K. She forgets the auto stop "feature" even exists anymore! Works as advertised, and we are very pleased with the device. It is also well hidden under some of the plastic coverings, so unless someone is looking for it, they would not know it was there.

As for fuel mileage...the Cuze is rated 31/38 mpg. The worst average (per fill up) has been 33.5 mpg, and the best 45 mpg (highway trip, averaging 60mph, and yes, seriously!) Normally though, it is around 37mpg. I would argue with anyone that the SmartStop has negatively impacted the fuel economy based on our experience...add to that the reduced wear and tear on the starter, battery, and related components, and I am more than pleased!

'I just have to say this little device is working flawless.. No weird issues or dash lights. Nothing dangling from the OBD port or wires in the way. Simple and just takes minutes for installation time including getting the velcro backings off which took the longest of all . Just recalls the last ESS button setting. So nice to be back to normal. I am not a believer in starting and putting the hammer down. That will eventually take its toll I'm thinking and I don't care for the extra starter and flywheel engagement. Oil pressure already drops to 0 and now you start and immediately drive. So glad I did this at under 1K miles and kept this off for the most part till now.

I don't like the ESS feature and see little to no benefit from it.
The ironic thing is: I could see it being useful when I am waiting in line at the pharmacy or at a fast food drive thru. Every time the car in front of me moved, I could move forwards and then the engine would shut down again when I had to stop. But since it won't turn the engine off unless you have achieved at least 3 mph, it won't even work in that situation.

['18 Buick Envision]  'I could give you many reasons why this [Auto Stop] CAN be dangerous:
-Pulling into a parking spot and against the curb, the engine shuts down then restarts, car jumps curb.
-Making a left turn into oncoming traffic, you come off the break and stab the gas, the car hesitates and stalls
-Accessing Car washes, Jiffy lube racks, parking in your garage just to name a few.

My wife's Envision was originally an Enterprise Rental and had the feature disabled. I had to take it in for service where the vehicle was reflashed for a TSB. After that the start/stop starting working. My wife freaked out the first time it happened, I immediately searched for a solution. 

There are a number of methods to inhibit the start/stop. Being an Engineer I wanted a solution that would not create other problems or possibly void the warranty. I found Whitexkr's device on the Cadillac XT5's forum and researched it heavily and compared it to other solutions. I was impressed on the design and how it exploits a loophole in the systems design. I ordered the unit and received it quickly. The instructions are easy to follow. I might make one suggestion, you can easily install in under the plastic radiator support cover in front of the radiator support instead of next to the hood latch making it nearly invisible. As far as operation is concerned It works perfectly. When you start the car you [might] get a brief message that the hood is open and it will reset without intervention. The unit is about half the size of a tic tac container. The unit has connectors on each side which makes it easy if you wish to remove it before service. Many are talking about the 2019 and the disable button, this is a far better solution as you dont need to push it every time you start the car.'

['18 Jeep Wrangler JL]  'Ok, got the unit in the mail today after just ordering it on Friday, not bad at all, free priority mail and with Virginia tax my total was $137. It's on sale right now as it is normally sold for $149 plus shipping. Unlike some of the others on here I don't need any other features so I bought this unit in lieu of the more expensive multi function units.

Install - Instructions are clear and easy to follow and it is a little tight getting to the wires under the dash just as the instructions say. I did add removing the center panel underneath the steering column. Don't worry it pops off real easy and goes back on just as easy as it came off. I installed the unit just as the instructions said but did make a slight modification. After using the provided Velcro to attach the module to the metal crossbar I also ran a plastic zip-tie around it as I just wanted it a little more secure. Probably not necessary but made me feel better.

Testing - I have tested this unit every way I can think of and it works perfectly as advertised. If you turn the Start Stop off with the switch and you shut your Jeep off and then restart it, it defaults to where you left it. I even tried it with the remote start and it works the same way. Turn the switch off and the start stop goes back to working just like it is supposed to. This unit is so simple I can't believe Jeep didn't do it from the get go but they didn't so I love this unit.

'I ordered the module for my wife's 2017 Buick Envision Premium (AWD 2.0T).  It arrived via priority mail within THREE DAYS!

I was able to install the bypass in about five minutes. I can't say enough about how detailed the instructions are.  Seriously, anybody can install it. Moreover, it works exactly as advertised! No more irritating start stop function, no more worrying if the car is going to restart when pulling into traffic, no unsettling sounds/noise/vibration/harshness when starting and stopping at stop lights. Plus, I'm no longer concerned about premature starter motor failure or what would happen if the vehicle shut off and failed to restart at an inconvenient time with my wife driving.   Worth every penny to me!
 
Also, I like that after it's installed, there is a way, from inside the vehicle, to engage the start stop for a particular trip (using the remote start function), but I have no idea why I would choose to do that. I appreciate like the fact that it does not do anything in terms of reprogramming  the ECM or BCM.  That might be a deal breaker for me.   The module simply tricks the car into thinking [for a second after starting] the hood is open, yet there are no “hood open”  dummy light warnings. BRILLIANT!

I took my first 1,500 mile trip last week and was very pleased with all the above mentioned (other than I haven’t towed a trailer yet). 
HOWEVER..... 
The 3.6L ESS engine (ESS stands for electronic stop/start) is designed to SHUT OFF EVERY TIME YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP LASTING MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS. ). It does start back up when you release the brake but only after a noticeable delay. This is to save a few drops of gas, but think about this the next time you’re inching along in traffic, waiting in line for a hamburger, or wanting to make a quick right hand turn at a red light. Also keep in mind that when your engine shuts off so does the heating and cooling. (the sales guys will try to give you all kinds of BS about this major design screw up and will tell you that you can turn it off, BUT you have to turn it off EVERY time you start your Jeep) Now the GOOD NEWS. there is a solution on the internet that just takes 3 seconds to plug in your maintenance port and allows YOU to decide if and when you ever want to use this extremely annoying feature (I did drive the first 500 miles with the ESS feature enabled and it was very annoying to both me and my wife). "The best solution I've found for my 2017 GC is the plug in module found at Smart Stop Start - Home. It costs $125 and just plugs into your maintenance jack by the parking brake pedal. Installs in about 3 seconds. It remembers your last ECO, ESS, and SPORT settings so you don't have to push the buttons each time you restart your jeep. If you want to change the settings just press the button(s) and it will remember the new settings. Well worth the money, given the annoyance factor of this poorly thought out design. "A couple of months ago I took advantage of JEEP's 2016 clearance sale and saved nearly $12K on a new loaded JGC. Once bad assumption on my part was that I could program out the 'golf cart' [aka START/STOP] feature like on my wife's car. It drove me crazy and I really don't understand how it saves the environment...but don't get me started. I bought the JGC for the purpose it was designed for and will use it up in the mountains a lot. After scrubbing the Internet and stumbling upon your website- decided it was worth a try. "Been using this module since I bought the car in December.
Definitely recommend - worth the money to not have to think about disabling a feature that is annoying (at best) in this cold weather (auto off? When the heat is going- yep - that is what the car does).

I don't know what else to tell you - not having to press the (A) button every time I get in the car IS worth the $$, and my wife fully agrees. This little gem works as designed, and appears to have had no adverse effects on anything else with the Jeep.
